Does the Google toolbar returns different search results ?
Does Google different return results via the Google toolbar?
I have noticed something very interesting today. Google returns different search results on a browser with their toolbar than it does without the toolbar. I have checked the data centre address returning the results and they are the same on both browsers. I knew that Yahoo was going to add this after reading their new search algorithm patent but Google doing this is a new one on me. We have even tried doing testing via different servers in Europe and still the same outcome, Google returns results differently if you use the Google toolbar.
This brings up some interesting questions:
- Does google return just one version of the results with the Google toolbar?
- Does it return results that are related to previous searches?
- Will Google use this to return pages that contain Adsense? (profiteering)
- Should Google be doing this?
- Does it benefit the end user?
I hope to answer these questions in the next few weeks as I have a real interest in what really is going on here. If anyone knows any of the answers please don’t hesitate in contacting us. leejohnson@rapidrank.co.uk We will add your comments to the article.
- Has anyone noticed any similarities like this too?
- What are your opinions on why Google is doing this?
Another question for you:
Is this the same when logged into your google account (webmaster tools, Gmail, or Google Analytics does the same thing happen?
I look forward to your comments.
